The human experience is timeless. Although we've changed in many aspects over the last three millennia, it is amazing how much is still common and relevant between our ancestors and the modern day man. ...
I have always had an affinity for ancient history; mostly because of how disconnected the average personal feels to that time period, yet it is amazing how these quotes from one of the most influential leaders in human history can be implemented in anyone's life today.
My favorite quote from this article was one where Cyrus the Great talks about generosity "Success always calls for greater generosity--though most people, lost in the darkness of their own egos, treat it as an occasion for greater greed. Collecting boot [is] not an end itself, but only a means for building [an] empire. Riches would be of little use to us now--except as a means of winning new friends."
I highly recommend this article by Ryan Holiday (in the link titled 'Forbes' above) which contains great quotes regarding all facets of leadership and life advice.
